First let’s talk nutrition.

For the longest time you have heard from the “experts”, “Eat a low fat diet” to get slim and trim.

The food manufacturers got wise to this and started producing a myriad of low fat foods.

But, there’s a catch.

When they take the fat out of something, they still need it to taste good, so guess what replaces the fat? SUGAR!

Now bear with me here…

When you consume calories there are really only one of two things your body can do with them. Burn them for energy, or store them as energy for future use (fat).

So while you may be eating the way the “experts” tell you, low fat, you’re literally eating tablespoon after tablespoon of sugar.

Now your body in order to compensate for this huge influx of calories starts to store them as the unwanted, unsightly body fat.

But wait…there’s more!

Now with Americans getting fatter than ever and diabetes (especially in children) on the rise, the “experts” flip.

Now carbs are the enemy. And the next fad, ‘low/no carb’ is touted as the healthy way to lose those extra pounds.

Know what?

It works. (At first).

The first couple of pounds come off, then it feels like you got hit by a Mack Truck. You crash, your energy crashes, you’re grouchy, brain fog sets in, you can’t concentrate and the last thing on your mind now is working out. So you don’t.

Then it happens.

You binge on carbs. Breads, pastas, cookies all the goodies you “couldn’t” eat because you’re on a “diet”. You’re body stores the excess calories and sugar as fat, and now you’re 10 pounds heavier than you were when you started. You feel awful, bloated and now your pants don’t even button!

So what happened? You did what you were supposed to do, right?

Then you see the light at the end on the tunnel!

Just squeeze this contraption between you legs for 3 minutes a day, or lounge on this hammock looking thing and the fat will simply fall off you body! Lose 10 pounds your first week!

Yeah right.

We all know that this ‘cutting edge’ fat melting gadget is going to be an expensive clothes hanger in about a week. And a month later you’ll either be selling it at garage sale, or trying to cram it into the corner of your storage space thinking about all the things you could have spent your hard earned dollars on.

Finally, the government chimes in on the subject. After all, they know best. The public service announcements begin to run on TV and radio. All you hear about is how Americans are getting fatter than ever before!

The campaigns begin:

Eat five meals a day and exercise! All it takes is 30 minutes, three times per week. Can you guess what happens next?

That’s right. While Uncle Sam has good intentions, America continues to get fatter. And now the latest recommendation from the government is to exercise 60-minutes a day, five days per week.

I don’t know about you, but here’s what I think. If people aren’t following a three day a week, 30-minutes a day recommendation what makes the government think that they’ll actually follow a five day a week, 60-minutes a day regimen? And could they be any vaguer? 30 minutes of what? 60 minutes of what?

And so your skinny jeans find their way into the closet, hanging in the back, waiting for the day that you’ll try them on again.

All the while you’re frustrated. Tired of the yo-yo dieting and the on again, off again exercise programs. Sometimes it just seems hopeless, doesn’t it?

IMPACT Fitness Boot Camp is a four week outdoor womens health and fitness program that offers outstanding fitness instructions and a large helping of motivation to keep you on track every step of the way!
